Adventure. Can you believe this one simple thing can improve your overall health and outlook on life? Adventure is described as an unusual, exciting or daring experience – so why wouldn’t you want to introduce it into the everyday for a bit of fun? The idea of what adventure is can vary from person to person; it could be an adrenaline-inducing activity, changing-up your daily routine or simply dining alone. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what you class as an adventure, it’s the reasons that count. So look to adventure if you…
1. Are Easily Bored-
If you’re someone who is sick of getting stuck in the same routine then you need more adventure in your lifestyle… because Netflix and chill can only interest us for so long. Changing up our routine keeps us on our toes and improves our overall mental health. Introducing new adventurous hobbies or activities allows us to challenge ourselves.
2. Are Often Sick-
Why not join a walking group or an exercise class. This will not only allow you to meet new people but will push yourself out of your comfort zone. Trying something new is adventurous. Start taking regular walks and getting some fresh air and vitamin D, this will help reduce stress levels improving your overall health.
3. Want A Change Of Scenery-
Sick of staring at the same four walls? Get out, get active, get exploring. Perhaps you feel most safe in your house? But statistics show that long periods of time indoors can cause temporary illnesses. Lack of clean and consistent ventilation, poor lighting, and moulds may cause fatigue and nausea. So get outdoors and feel better. Being more adventurous doesn’t necessarily mean going sky-diving or climbing Everest, just try changing up your routine; head to a local cafe, take your dog for a walk or visit your library.
4. Need A Reward-
Use adventure as a reward. Take yourself away as a treat for a hard work week. Pamper yourself because you deserve it. Do something for yourself and don’t feel guilty about it. A happy you is a healthy you.
5. Are Single-
There’s more to life than having a partner. A relationship can often feel like an adventure in itself. You don’t need a partner to explore the world, enjoy the time to focus on yourself and find excitement in going it alone.
6. Are Ageing-
As we get older we increase our responsibilities; from work to family to social commitments. As we get busier it becomes easier to make excuses and convince ourselves that we don’t have time to break out of our everyday routine but the truth is – we do. Tailor your new adventures to what suits you, they don’t have to be drastic changes, maybe try driving a new route home or eat your dessert before your dinner for once.
7. Are Looking For Excitement-
Just do it, why not? You don’t need a reason to start being adventurous. Pack and go on that mini vacation you always wanted to, try a new hobby, go to the cinema alone. Whatever it is, let adventure find you.
